What should the U.S. do about illegal immigrants?

This epidemic problem of illegal immigration has been going on for decades in America with no end to this issue. With over 11 million immigrants currently in the United States illegally, the problem of illegal immigration continues to rise. Simultaneously, so many illegal immigrants still attempt to reach the United States every year by sea from the Caribbean islands of Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. However, these immigrants put their self at risk because they end up in the hands of smugglers. These immigrants face all of kinds of problems when trying to escape into the United states, the risk they face include rape, kidnapping, robbery and even murder in some cases. So what can be done about illegal immigrants trying to enter the United States?  Well, there is not much that can be done about this issue.

These illegal immigrants have been in the United States for years they have built their families here as well as established a decent living. American employers have used illegal immigrants to perform work for them in the United States. This means that those illegal immigrants have made roots here in America. These illegal immigrants work hard just like an average American working from nine to five therefore it would not be fair to just kick them nor deport them. However, to prevent future illegal immigration problems, the government should come up with a solution without deporting or taking away the rights of illegal immigrants who already been here in the United State for years.
W
For instance, the federal government should take a stronger action against these illegal immigrants by strengthening border control in other words, by tripling the number of Border Patrol officers. That way they have enough officers to spread around and to look out for anyone trying to cross the border undocumented. In 2010, the U.S. Coast Guard interdicted 2,088 illegal immigrants off the coast of the United States. With this in mind, people who break the law by crossing the US border without the proper documentation should be deported back to their country unless. Therefore, with a new, more controlled border Americans will be safer and so will the people trying to come to America. That being said, this will benefit America because it will prevent criminal activity along the border and thereby decrease one of the illegal activities that occur near the border.
However, illegal immigrants in the United States benefit the economy because the buy food, cars, properties, and electronics. The Economic Roundtable reported that, estimates that the 400,000 illegal workers in L.A. County in 2006 spent $5.7 billion annually on food, rent, transportation and other necessities.

In addition, the sales tax they pay on those consumer purchases. Illegal immigrants will work for less and buy goods within the United States.
Therefore, the government should provide these illegal immigrants with citizenship rights in order to work because they can bring a great outcome as oppose to refusing them from this right causing all kinds of economic problems. Meanwhile, there was a report from the White House  stating that the government would provide citizenship for those undocumented immigrants, according to the White House, “the economic benefits of providing a path to earned citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living and working in the U.S. shadow economy’’. If that happens, these illegal immigrants no longer have to suffer just for wanting the right to work in the United States legally.

Moreover, illegal immigrants take role in labor jobs, and they have little effect on the unemployment rate because they work at companies that need little or no skilled workers. Let's say, if they were no illegal immigrants in the United States, then it would be a problem because there would be a shortage of workers for low paying jobs, for example, housekeeping, cooks, and manufacturing. These immigrants work for low wages, therefore most of the U.S. employment companies need these immigrants because the majority of these jobs are taken by illegal immigrants.

To summarize, I think that the millions of illegal immigrant currently living in the United states need to be left alone because they been here for years and some of them even started new families here. Why get rid of them? When they’re simply trying to earn a decent living. In fact, they should be given a second chance here in America the land of freedom. Where they can work without pressure, and possibly get their citizenship. There is clear evidence, that these illegal immigrants have taken a lot of low paying jobs and benefit the economy. The government should only take action against future illegal immigrants and terrorist trying to enter the United States, but as far as the ones who already live here, should be given citizenship and still be allowed to live here. Therefore, these innocent immigrants who already live here mean no harm to the people of the United States nor to the government.
